Role Description:
The Electrical Engineer is an exciting 5 month fixed-term opportunity based at our Cockburn Station site. The purpose of the role is to undertake Engineering assignments encompassing project management, design services, conceptual technical proposals, and cost estimates.
The Electrical Engineer takes the lead role in the investigation of technical problems and recommends safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective solutions.
You will be required to provide technical, and projects support to the gas turbines and distributed generation operating unit.
Job responsibilities:
- Investigate plant operating/performance problems, as reported by others or observed through frequent contact with the plant, devise and recommend or initiate solutions.
- Analyse plant failures and perform root cause analysis.
- Plan, supervise/coordinate or carry out activities, associated with operation and maintenance/repair of equipment and systems as required.
- Carry out technical inspection, prepare reports with recommendations and/or arrange necessary action.
- Accountable for the site’s high voltage, low voltage, instrumentation, and controls decisions made regard to the plant.
- Contribute to the development of innovative strategies to manage plant risk exposure and maximise business performance and provide Engineering support to outage leads during plant shutdowns.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Electrical Engineering role in an operational environment
- Relevant power generation technology knowledge and distributed and renewable energy including large scale battery storage
- Knowledge Project and contract/contractor management as well as planning and scheduling
- Knowledge of Operation and maintenance practices
