Role Description:
The Senior Environmental Advisor is a newly created opportunity based at our Cockburn Power Station site.
The Senior Environmental Advisor (Operations) is responsible for supporting the environmental compliance of Synergy’s operating assets. This role will assist in the provision of environmental reporting data across sites, coordination of monitoring and compliance activities, and support in the case of environmental incidents.
The role works in partnership across Synergy functions and operations stakeholders to provide timely professional guidance and subject matter expert advice on proactive management of environmental compliance and risks. Through leadership and guidance, the role fosters a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability within Synergy’s operations and activities.
Job responsibilities:
- Manage, scope, coordinate, and review environmental licence activities as part of environmental operational compliance.
- Identification and effective communication of environmental compliance risks and opportunities.
- Provision of technical guidance and support for environmental issues, including but not limited to fauna handling, hydrocarbon spills, native vegetation clearing, water quality & air emissions management, and waste management.
- Stakeholder engagement and consultation, including regulators and local government.
- Develop and present environmental toolboxes, learnings and updates at site meetings, as required and provide environmental support to ensure compliance with regulatory conditions during construction and operation of Projects.
What you will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in environment related studies (e.g., BSc, BEng, BA or equivalent degree).
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, in particular to, Part V of the Environmental Protection Act.
- Management of contractors.
- Provision of technical guidance and support for managing licence conditions and environmental approval obligations
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in environmental management activities in industrial settings.
