Role Description:

The Sustainable Technician is an exciting opportunity based at our Kwinana Power Station. This role involves performing advanced technical, commercial, and supervisory tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and development of sustainable plants, including wind turbines, diesel generators, and battery energy storage systems.

We seek a candidate with a background in controls and instrumentation. Responsibilities include investigating and resolving complex technical issues within the power generating plant, conducting fault finding, testing, and modifications as needed, and coordinating with Synergy’s control room and O&M contractors to ensure optimal plant performance.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide advice, make recommendations, and key decisions on the operations and maintenance requirements of diverse power generating and storage plant with respect to, electrical, C&I and Communications in conjunction with Engineers
  • Plan, organise and carry out fault finding, testing, commissioning, and maintenance on electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Communications plant
  • Carry out technical inspection, prepare reports with recommendations and/or arrange necessary action, assess and recommend modifications to plant and operations/maintenance procedures
  • Management of permits in accordance with permit to work systems, prepare/review/approve switching program, perform High Voltage and Low Voltage switching to allow for outages, maintenance activities or in emergency situations.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and check works carried out by staff, contractors, and consultants.

What you will bring:

  • Diploma or Certificate IV in Controls and Instrumentation.
  • An Electrical, Instrument and Controls or dual trade certificate
  • WA Electrical Workers License
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Power Station operation and/or maintenance experience in Wind turbines, solar or battery systems
  • Strong knowledge of inspection/testing practices as well as experience in equipment maintenance/repair practices and technical knowledge with advanced process control skills, Control System upkeep, maintenance, and modification
