Role Description:
The Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisor role is an opportunity in our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team based at our Perth Central Park site.
The Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisor is crucial in supporting the delivery of key projects. This role is integral to developing and implementing Synergy’s comprehensive approach to Aboriginal cultural heritage. It ensures compliance with the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 and fosters mutually beneficial relationships, delivering social value for both Synergy and the communities we serve.
Job responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of an Aboriginal cultural heritage management system including change management requirements and leading the implementation to embed cultural heritage management into the way we do business.
- Provide operational advice to facilitate the positive, timely and compliant delivery of projects and operational activities throughout the business.
- Participate in the implementation of Noongar Standard Heritage Agreements and the Yamatji Government Standard Heritage Agreement all parties to the South West settlement and Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation respectively. Provide advice to internal stakeholders and contribute to the strategic planning of other heritage agreements where required.
- Assist with the co-ordination and successful delivery of Heritage surveys and field work and contribute to positive Heritage outcomes which build trust with Aboriginal communities.
- Manage and maintain accurate and timely documentation which ensures efficient and compliant record keeping.
What you will bring:
- 2+ years working knowledge of the legislation, policies and practices relating to Aboriginal cultural heritage management and high level of skill in their practical application in a complex and dynamic industry.
- High level of skill in the research, analysis, development, and implementation of organisational processes to effectively achieve Aboriginal cultural heritage management outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in building internal capability, knowledge, and engagement on matters of Aboriginal cultural heritage, with proven verbal and written communication skills to engage diverse audiences from corporate executives to regional communities.
- Ability to effectively work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to develop and maintain mutually beneficial outcomes while supporting project delivery.
- Well-developed interpersonal and engagement skills (both verbal and written) that support the establishment and maintenance of positive internal and external relationships and partnerships.
