Role Description:
The Accountant role is an exciting opportunity in our Financial Control team based at our Perth Central Park office. This role supports the delivery of accurate and complete financial reporting across Synergy, including its wholly owned subsidiaries and joint ventures. It plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity through general ledger management, reconciliations, financial statement preparation in line with AASB standards, and adherence to internal policies. The role also supports monthly BAS/PAYG lodgements, cash management, and payment scheduling, while contributing to Synergy’s strategic focus on operational excellence.
In addition to core accounting responsibilities, the role provides support during internal and external audits and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across financial processes. It involves researching technical accounting matters, drafting position papers, and liaising with stakeholders to assess the financial impact of business changes. The Accountant works closely with finance leaders and operational teams, building strong internal relationships and providing backup support when required. This is a dynamic role within a collaborative environment that values innovation, accountability, and trust.
Job responsibilities:
- Preparing financial statements in accordance with AASB standards for Synergy and its related entities.
- Managing general ledger activities including accruals, journals, intercompany transactions, and consolidation entries.
- Supporting internal and external audits by providing timely documentation and assisting with auditor queries.
- Preparing and lodging monthly BAS/PAYG returns and assisting with cash management and payment scheduling.
- Researching and advising on technical accounting matters, including drafting papers and assessing the impact of business changes.
What you will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting or a related discipline, along with a professional accounting designation (CA or CPA).
- Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, with the ability to manage and transform financial data.
- Experience using financial systems such as Xero, SAP, Analysis for Office, and Power BI.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to work independently and proactively.
