Role Description:
The Accounts Payable Lead is an exciting opportunity for an initial 6-month period in our Accounts Payable team based at our Perth Central Park office. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of Synergy’s accounts payable, cash processing, and general ledger bank account reconciliation activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. The Accounts Payable Lead will also oversee critical automation initiatives improving overall efficiency of the function.
The successful candidate will lead a team of seven, driving operational excellence through process improvements, automation initiatives, and strong stakeholder engagement. Acting as the subject matter expert for accounts payable, they will provide guidance on complex queries, resolve escalations, and maintain Synergy’s reputation as a reliable and timely payer under the Payment Times Reporting Scheme.
This position requires a proactive leader who can foster a high-performing, collaborative environment, influence stakeholders across the business, and deliver innovative solutions to enhance financial control and reporting integrity.
Job responsibilities:
- Overseeing and managing the daily operations of accounts payable, cash processing, and general ledger bank account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Reviewing and approving supplier payment runs, including foreign currency payments, in line with treasury management standards.
- Leading, coaching, and motivating a team of nine to deliver high performance, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Driving critical automation and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and financial control integrity.
- Acting as the subject matter expert for accounts payable, resolving complex queries, stakeholder escalations, and ensuring timely supplier payments under the Payment Times Reporting Scheme.
What you will bring:
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in accounts payable, finance operations, or treasury, with a track record of managing high-volume processes.
- Strong leadership experience with a proven ability to coach, mentor, and motivate a team to deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (SAP experience highly regarded).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and foster strong relationships.
- A customer-first mindset and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
