Role Description:
The Accounts Receivable Officer is an exciting opportunity within our Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable team, based at our Perth Central Park office. This role plays a critical part in the Finance Business Unit, with a primary focus on allocating a high volume of customer payments and ensuring the timely and accurate receipt of income. It also involves processing payment exceptions and reversals, contributing to the smooth operation of our financial systems.
In addition, the role requires regular engagement with non-residential customers and internal stakeholders to resolve a high volume of queries related to payment allocations or disputes. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team environment, supporting Synergy’s cash flow management and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across our financial processes.
Job responsibilities:
- Process customer payments in line with established policies and procedures, ensuring timely and accurate allocation across various payment channels.
- Investigate and resolve payment issues, working collaboratively with Customer Business Unit teams to ensure prompt and effective resolution.
- Action daily payment exceptions and reversals, including those from Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Australia Post, Centrelink, Web & IVR, Mercantile Agents, BPAY, and other channels as required.
- Support daily general ledger bank reconciliation across a variety of payment channels, focusing on variance investigation and resolution.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the Customer Business Unit to support seamless financial operations and customer service outcomes.
What you will bring:
- Preferred minimum of 5 years’ experience in cash processing, general ledger reconciliation, accounts receivable, or a similar financial function.
- Experience with SAP is highly regarded, with the ability to navigate financial systems confidently and efficiently.
- Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high levels of accuracy in all aspects of financial processing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, complemented by outstanding interpersonal and relationship management abilities.
