We're leading Western Australians to their intelligent energy future.

And we want you to be part of it.

You might know us as Western Australia's largest electricity generator and energy retailer, supporting 1.2 million customers across the state.

But what you might not know, is that we’re investing in renewable energy projects, including wind farms and big batteries, to help build a more sustainable and reliable future.

Our Big Battery is now live in Kwinana, we’re expanding the Warradarge Wind Farm, the WA EV Network has launched, and we have many other projects in the works.

We're a purpose-driven organisation, owned by the people of WA. Our commitment is to ensure all Western Australians have access to secure, reliable, and sustainable energy.

We believe that the benefits of renewable energy aren’t just for some, they're for everyone.

This is where you come in.

Role Description:

The Compliance Support Specialist is a newly created opportunity in our Market and Compliance team based at our Perth Central Park office. This role plays a critical part in supporting Synergy’s compliance and operational activities across its large-scale renewable and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) portfolio, including assets within the Bright Energy Investments portfolio.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies, you will help develop and enhance compliance frameworks, commercial systems, and reporting processes. The role includes supporting investigations into compliance matters, interpreting and applying market rules, validating data and models, and contributing to risk mitigation efforts.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a passion for applying regulatory compliance in the energy sector. You’ll bring a blend of technical expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving – and in return, gain exposure to shaping the future of WA’s evolving energy landscape.

Job responsibilities:

  • Maintaining, reporting on and enhancing regulatory compliance and commercial systems, through data collection, analysis, and coordination of asset-level updates.
  • Supporting investigations into potential or actual non-compliance incidents, interpreting and applying regulatory frameworks, and reporting on investigation outcomes.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to guide stakeholders on their compliance responsibilities and build strong alignment across the business.
  • Validating portfolio models and ensuring regulatory compliance and commercial systems are consistent with asset mission statements.
  • Developing, documenting, and updating compliance procedures, supporting team training, and monitoring effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.

What you will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Economics, Finance, Accounting), Law, Legal Studies, or Engineering with an energy specialisation.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory environment, preferably in the electricity industry. Knowledge of the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and/or other statutory requirements will be highly regarded.
  • Strong research, analytical, and compliance capability, including sourcing and synthesising evidence, interpreting complex regulations, and delivering both qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Confidence using data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, VBA, and Python to support decision-making and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
