Role Description:
The Corporate Finance Analyst is an exciting 6-month Max-Term Contract opportunity in our Corporate Financial Control team based at our Perth Central Park office. This opportunity offers a unique chance to contribute to Synergy’s financial strategy and governance in a fast-paced and purpose-driven environment.
The successful candidate will support Synergy’s corporate finance portfolios across treasury, insurance, and governance of wholesale energy trading activities. They will play a key role in maintaining financial resilience by managing liquidity, supporting insurance renewals and claims, and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations such as the Renewable Energy Target.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, the Corporate Finance Analyst will contribute to financial modelling, risk management, and reporting to governance committees. This is a great opportunity to apply analytical skills and commercial acumen in a purpose-led organisation driving the transition to a smarter energy future.
Job responsibilities:
- Support the management of Synergy’s cash and liquidity, including preparing cashflow forecasts, executing financial market transactions, and maintaining hedge accounting documentation.
- Assist with the annual insurance renewal process, claims management, and coordination with brokers and underwriters, while maintaining accurate insurance records.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations such as the Renewable Energy Target and carbon reporting, including preparing and maintaining supporting documentation and financial models.
- Monitor and assess counterparty credit risk under Synergy’s wholesale energy credit policy, and review contract proposals to ensure financial risks are identified and managed.
- Contribute to financial modelling, reconciliation of energy supplier invoices, and preparation of reports for governance committees including the Audit and Risk Committee.
What you will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications such as CA or CPA are highly regarded).
- Strong Excel financial modelling skills and familiarity with SAP for financial transactions and reporting.
- Exposure to treasury operations, insurance processes, or corporate finance, ideally gained in a corporate, banking, consulting, or insurance environment.
- A working knowledge of energy trading market rules and renewable energy legislation is advantageous.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.
