Role Description:
The Data Scientist role is a 11-month Max Term within our Predictive Analytics & Optimisation team based at our Perth CBD offices.
The role supports Customer DER functional effectiveness and efficiency through assisting in the development, implementation and review of cost and pricing, and of WEM data and WEMMR management systems.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead modelling and development to support strategic programs, operation initiatives, new products and solutions using descriptive, predictive, prescriptive modelling, machine learning, and complex mathematical modelling/tool development.
- Make and execute strategic recommendations to improve analytics availability and value and/or take advantage of specialized data science services and solutions.
- Develop and analyse customer and market research to optimise existing products and services and identify new product development and service or process enhancement opportunities.
- Drive cost and margin outcomes via a thorough understanding of P&L drivers in current DER and other products.
- Analyse and suggest product structure, pricing and promotional strategies that ensure DER and other products achieve performance targets.
What you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in data science, IT, engineering, business, economics, or related field
- 1 - 3 years of data science or data engineering experience, working within WA Energy, renewable energy, or other utility
- Effective stakeholder and partner management.
- Strong Python programming competence, ideally with experience using Databricks, Github, systems for code version control and Azure blob storage.
- Experience in mathematical modelling of large-scale, real-world optimization problems and design of algorithms that obtain implementable cost-efficient solutions.
