Role Description:
The Governance Officer is a newly created Max-Term Contract opportunity through to 30 June 2026, within our Regulation and Compliance team based at our Perth Central Park office. The Governance Officer plays a key role in safeguarding the integrity of Synergy’s regulated energy services, which support over one million customers.
The role provides expert guidance on privacy and regulatory matters, contributing to a strong culture of compliance across the organisation. Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, the Governance Officer promotes best practices, supports legislative change readiness, and ensures governance frameworks remain robust, effective, and fit for purpose.
Job responsibilities:
- Foster a strong culture of compliance aligned with AS 37301 and support continuous improvement of Synergy’s compliance system, Empower.
- Design, implement, and report on compliance activities, including performance metrics and dashboards.
- Provide expert advice on regulatory and privacy matters, including readiness for upcoming legislative changes (PRIS).
- Contribute to the development and delivery of engaging compliance training programs across the organisation.
- Enhance and evaluate Synergy’s privacy framework, ensuring effective implementation of privacy controls.
What you will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, with additional certification in governance, compliance or risk viewed favourably.
- Minimum three years’ experience in a regulatory or compliance role, ideally within a regulated industry or utility environment.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence a diverse range of internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in fostering a positive compliance culture across teams.
- Strong understanding of privacy and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to apply them in practical, business-focused ways.
