Role Description:
The Governance Officer role is an opportunity to work with our Future Energy Team based in the City Office. The Governance Officer plays an integral role in supporting the Renewable Energy Developments (RED) team (including the SynergyRED subsidiary company) to deliver the pipeline of new renewable projects and also supporting the provision of governance services to Bright Energy Investments (BEI).
This role contributes to a culture of governance, compliance and process excellence across RED by developing actionable insights into governance system content and providing expert, best practice, governance advice. Also important to the role is the maintenance of compliance processes to help ensure that the business practices of RED and BEI are conducted in an efficient and effective manner, with adherence to regulatory obligations, appropriate processes for the corporate cultures of both Synergy and BEI, the application of effective controls and pertinent management reporting.
Job responsibilities:
- Keep abreast of changes in the legislative and regulatory environment and identify and draft policy/procedure updates for SynergyRED and BEI to ensure compliance:
- Provide expert advice to the SynergyRED team and BEI on governance and compliance systems and processes:
- Manage the currency and accuracy of the SynergyRED and BEI corporate risk registers and provide guidance, couching and workshop facilitation to risk register users in RED and BEI;
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support process owners in SynergyRED and BEI, to be able to monitor the success of system improvements and effectively contribute to organisational culture;
- Collect, analyse and report on compliance and business performance data
What you will bring:
- Bachelors degree in either Management, Business, Arts, Engineering or Accounting: or demonstrated governance and management/business systems experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a corporate office environment with exposure to management systems and business processes in a structured workplace in energy, major project management, mining, industrial or manufacturing
- Preferred Cert IV or higher qualifications in governance or governance related discipline (e.g., quality management)
- Ability in preparing governance and compliance product including researching, drafting, editing, evaluating and reporting
