Role Description:

The Lead Electrical and Project Engineer is an exciting opportunity in Perth CBD Office.

The Lead Electrical & Project Engineer will collaborate closely with site teams across Synergy to develop and implement engineering strategies that enhance the reliability, safety, and performance of electrical systems within current and future generation assets. This role will focus on identifying and mitigating electrical risks, driving continuous improvement in asset performance, and leading the planning and execution of capital and maintenance projects. The engineer will provide expert guidance on electrical infrastructure, ensure compliance with relevant standards, and contribute to the optimisation of operations through innovative engineering solutions and effective project delivery.

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical engineering strategy and execution in alignment with Synergy’s decarbonisation roadmap, ensuring electrical systems support the transition and optimisation of athe generation portfolio.
  • Identify and manage electrical and power generation risks across existing and future assets, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation.
  • Lead and deliver sustaining capital projects, including scope development, supporting business case preparation, contractor engagement, and project execution, with a focus on electrical infrastructure and systems.
  • Support stakeholders in completing accountable actions from process safety risk assessments and asset management planning, particularly those involving electrical systems and project delivery.
  • Lead implementation and compliance with Generator Performance Standards (GPS) for electrical systems across all generation assets and define and maintain electrical engineering standards, and develop supporting systems and documentation to ensure consistency, safety, and regulatory compliance.

What you will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary engineering qualification in relevant field
  • Eligible for Chartered Membership of Engineers Australia
  • Minimum of 10 years’ engineering or operational experience in open cycle gas turbine, combined cycle gas turbine or coal fired thermal power generation plant and systems
  • Computer systems and software including MS Office and Plant Information System (PIS)
  • Electrical Protection, Arc flash and power system design and problem-solving fundamentals and process Safety and risk assessment skills
