Role Description:

The Lead Future Energy Engineer is a newly created opportunity in our Central Park Office based in Perth.

The purpose of this role is to drive the development and implementation of ground-breaking control strategies for power systems. Your expertise will be pivotal in optimizing performance, ensuring unparalleled regulatory compliance, and revolutionizing the integration of renewable energy assets into the power grid. Serving as the foremost subject matter expert (SME) for network connection processes, you will play a key role in shaping the industry's future. Additionally, your responsibility extends to pioneering and setting the highest standards in internal engineering processes, contributing to the field's evolution at a transformative level.

Job responsibilities:

  • Conduct due diligence on technical solutions across the DER and renewable asset lifecycle to support decision making.

 

  • Develop and implement control strategies for power systems, DER, wind, PV, and energy storage systems to optimize performance and ensure grid stability.

 

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate DER systems performance, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.

 

  • Collaborate with grid and market operators and cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate DER into the broader power grid, ensuring compliance with WEM rules,  Technical rule, industry standards and regulations.

 

  • Stay abreast and serve as an SME to influence change in rules and regulations related to DER network connection processes, contributing to internal Synergy standards and processes to remain compliant and up-to-date.

 

  • Provide thoughtful leadership for the DER Team and opportunities for development of junior and Senior Engineers.

What you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field.

 

  • Strong understanding of technical rules and regulations governing power system connections.

 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey technical information.

 

  • Strong thoughtful leadership and collaboration skills to influence cross-functional teams and technical and regulatory outcomes for Synergy and its customers.

 

  • 7 years experience as an Electrical Engineer or Control Systems Engineer in the power and energy sector.
