Role Description:

 

The Legal Counsel role is an exciting opportunity within our Legal team, based at our Perth Central Park office. Reporting to the Managing Counsel & Deputy Company Secretary, this position is responsible for providing timely, practical and commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of commercial, corporate and regulatory matters. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, the role supports strategic initiatives, manages legal risk, and helps ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.

 

The Legal Counsel will play a key role in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, advising on regulatory and governance matters, and partnering with the business to deliver practical legal solutions. The role also contributes to strategic projects, dispute resolution activities, and the continuous improvement of legal processes and services.

 

This opportunity is suited to a collaborative and commercially minded legal professional who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships, managing varied legal matters, and delivering high-quality outcomes in a dynamic and evolving business environment.

Job responsibilities:

 

  • Provide timely, high-quality legal advice across a broad range of commercial, corporate and regulatory matters, supporting business decision-making, strategic projects and legal risk management.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documents, ensuring third-party arrangements align with Synergy's commercial objectives and legal obligations.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance, corporate governance and legal risk, supporting the development and implementation of policies, procedures and business frameworks.
  • Engage and manage external legal service providers, including preparing instructions, overseeing outsourced legal work and monitoring delivery against agreed budgets and expectations.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to support dispute resolution, incident remediation, continuous improvement initiatives and the integration of legal advice into business processes and compliance regimes.

What you will bring:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Law from a common law jurisdiction, along with admission to practice in Western Australia and a current practising certificate, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in commercial and contract law.
  • Strong legal drafting, negotiation, research and analytical skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice on complex legal and regulatory matters.
  • Demonstrated experience managing commercial contracts and identifying legal and commercial risks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse business environment.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
