Role Description:

The Manager Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Operations Role is a newly created opportunity in our DER & Engineering Team based at our Perth Office. 

 

You will be responsible for leading the DER Operations function, ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of DER and VPP assets at scale, while enabling high performance, stakeholder coordination, and operational readiness in alignment with Synergy’s strategic objectives. 

 

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the DER Operations function, setting direction, priorities, and performance standards in asset management practices for DER and VPP assets lifecycle.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of DER and VPP assets through robust operational oversight including real-time monitoring, dispatch, and fault response processes.
  • Manage internal and external operational stakeholder relationships with AEMO, WP installers, DER Retailers, OEMs, aggregators, and internal teams.
  • Maintain governance over operational matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and risk management requirements, including SOCI.
  • Provide leadership and development for the DER Operations team and support the delivery of DER-related programs and projects through operational readiness.

What you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering (preferred), or a related field.
  • Proven experience in operational leadership within energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors and willingness to lead the establishment of a new function.
  • Strong understanding of DER, VPP, or distributed energy systems.
  • Experience with compliance, risk, and safety frameworks in operational settings.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as AEMO and the WA DER Roadmap.
