Role Description:
The Manager Environment and Sustainability is a newly created opportunity working in our Central Park office in the city.
The purpose of the role is to lead the Environment & Sustainability function in supporting the business to meet environmental management, compliance obligations, strategic planning, GIS and implementing and achieving our sustainability frameworks. This role provides environmental leadership, direction and specialist advice and is an important element in Synergy achieving its net zero road map.
Job responsibilities:
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, by inspiring trust, promoting open communication and encouraging the professional development of team members.
- Support the team in achieving daily objectives by providing clear guidance and direction and addressing challenges collaboratively.
- Execute initiatives and improvements as detailed in the Synergy HSE Strategy.
- Provide technical advice and support to projects, programs and operational areas on environmental matters, including environmental management, approvals, GIS and environmental sustainability.
- Ensure Synergy meets its legal obligations through developing and gaining approvals, maintaining licences for operations and project work, including heritage approvals.
- Developing and delivering environmental sustainability strategies at an organisation level.
What you will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental, sustainability, physical science or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in environmental or sustainability management roles.
- Experience in developing and executing functional business level plans.
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental legislative requirements.
- Development and presentation of reports and papers to executive leaders and boards.
