Role Description:
The Media Lead is an exciting 12-month max-term opportunity in our Brand, Marketing & Communications team based at our Perth Central Park office. As Media Lead, you will be lead Synergy's media function, ensuring proactive and strategic media engagement that supports organisational objectives, strengthens trust and understanding and protects and enhances Synergy’s reputation.
You will lead a team of media advisors and work collaboratively across the organisation to deliver integrated communication strategies, media engagement, issues management and crisis communication advice.
This role blends strategic media expertise with accountable leadership, role modelling culture and fostering collaboration and capability uplift across the team.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of media advisors to deliver a high-performing media function.
- Own Synergy’s media relations function, building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists and media outlets while supporting broader reputation, stakeholder and communications objectives.
- Lead media response during issues and crisis events as a core member of the crisis communications team, ensuring coordinated, timely and accurate communication.
- Provide expert media advice to senior leaders and executives, including media spokesperson training.
- Partner with internal communications, stakeholder engagement, brand, marketing and business teams to deliver integrated communications outcomes across priority initiatives
What you will bring:
- Qualifications in communications, media, public relations or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience (8+ years) in delivering strategic communications, media engagement, issues management and reputation advice within a complex corporate environment.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams in a fast-paced environment when working to deadline.
- Demonstrated experience in building and managing effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
