Role Description:

 

The OT Systems Specialist – AVEVA PI is an exciting opportunity in our Operational Technology (OT) Systems team, based at our Perth Central Park location. This role is responsible for delivering expert application support for the PI Historian and Ignition SCADA systems, while also overseeing the administration, configuration, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of OT systems and Wintel environments.

 

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the deployment and integration of OT infrastructure across Synergy’s generation sites, ensuring the reliability and performance of systems that operate 24/7. A major focus of the role is supporting the integration and operationalisation of new renewable energy projects, while aligning with evolving cybersecurity requirements and contributing to the continuous improvement of existing OT systems.

 

This is a hands-on technical role that involves close collaboration with internal teams across engineering, cybersecurity, and trading, as well as external vendors. It offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and make a meaningful impact on the future of energy in Western Australia.

Job responsibilities:

 

  • Provide expert support for the AVEVA PI Historian and Ignition SCADA systems, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
  • Deploy and integrate OT solutions, including on-site commissioning and support as required.
  • Administer and maintain OT systems, including configuration, troubleshooting, and integration with business applications.
  • Implement cybersecurity requirements in collaboration with the Cyber Security team, ensuring compliance across OT applications.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including standards and integration workflows, in partnership with Senior OT Specialists and Engineers.

What you will bring:

 

  • A degree in Computer Science, IT Systems, or a related discipline (Preferred).
  • 2+ years’ experience in AVEVA PI Systems development, integration, and deployment, including Asset Framework (AF) modelling.
  • Strong background in supporting PI modules (eg. PI AF, PI Vision, PI Notifications) and administering virtual environments, Wintel, Active Directory, and DNS.
  • Exposure to OT systems and infrastructure, ideally within the energy utilities sector, with familiarity in Ignition SCADA and Cisco networking.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
