Role Description:
The Predictive Analytics and Optimisation Lead is a 12 month, fixed term opportunity in our Analytic Services and Solutions team based at our Central Park Perth site.
The position is a key part of the Analytic Services and Solutions team within the Marketing function of the Customer business unit. The main purpose of the role is to lead and manage all aspects of the forecasting solutions within the Analytic Services and Solutions team. The team plays a vital role in developing the ability for Synergy to integrate consumer energy resources in the SWIS, which is a key element of the corporate strategy to become a sustainable profitable generator and retailer.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead and provide coaching to the Predictive Analytics and Optimisation team, ensuring their proficiency in analytical modelling languages R or Python, the corporate analytics environment including big data tools like Databricks, blob storage, model pipeline deployment monitoring and subject-matter expertise over DER and the cost stack of electricity products retailed to over 1.2 million contestable and non-contestable customers in the SWIS.
- Lead the development and delivery of regular and ad-hoc analytical modelling and synthesis.
- Deliver high-quality end-to-end analysis to support DER decision-making process, being accountable for the accuracy and completeness of the analysis and recommendations provided.
- Be the Customer trusted expert on the architecture, design and delivery of analytical forecasting solutions integrated within key business functions like regular, peak and minimum demand forecasting, customer consumption modelling under various product scenarios etc.
What you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in information systems, data science, computer science, engineering, operations research, business, economics, or related field.
- 8+ years of demonstrated applied delivery of quantitative business problem analysis, operations research, decision optimization.
- Strong SQL and Python / R skills and statistics or machine learning fundamentals – you are an expert user of analytical tools, able to apply them efficiently and appropriately to solve a wide range of business challenges.
- 2+ years of experience leading cross-functional data science projects, managing people performance against objectives and coaching team members.
- 2+ years working experience in Western Australia energy sector, renewable energy, or other utility
