Role Description:
The Pricing and Portfolio Analyst is an exciting opportunity in our Customer Marketing team based at our Perth Central Park office. The customer centric role sits within the Pricing Strategy and Financial Performance function and plays an important part in supporting the Customer Business Unit’s performance and long‑term sustainability. Working in a great team, the role contributes to how pricing and portfolio decisions are shaped in a dynamic energy market.
The position can make a positive difference by operating at the intersection of pricing strategy, portfolio performance and market insight, partnering closely with stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Finance, Trading, Wholesale and Future Energy. The Pricing and Portfolio Analyst supports informed decision‑making by providing visibility on portfolio value, customer contribution and exposure to market movements, helping the business understand how external drivers and internal cost assumptions influence outcomes.
This role also offers involvement in complex portfolio dynamics within a contestable environment and the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives that support effective risk management and continuous improvement. It is well suited to someone who enjoys working with data and developing meaningful insights, engaging with a broad stakeholder group, and influencing outcomes through thoughtful analysis in a fast‑paced and evolving market context.
Job responsibilities:
- Provide pricing, portfolio and market analysis to support pricing decisions, portfolio optimisation and long-term sustainability of pricing outcomes for Customer Business Unit.
- Develop, maintain and enhance portfolio risk, pricing and forecast models, including portfolio shape, customer contribution and exposure to a range of external and internal factors.
- Translate pricing complexity into insights focusing on pricing drivers, actionable levers, risks and portfolio value considering customer, portfolio and whole of Synergy price performance against forecasts.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders such as Sales and Products on pricing modelling, opportunity evaluation, offer construction and assessment of commercial and portfolio risks.
- Foster the ‘One Synergy’ mindset through cross team-oriented collaboration and communication which aligns with strategic objectives and Synergy’s values.
What you will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business, finance, economics or a related analytics-based discipline, with strong analytical and problem‑solving capability and proactive mindset.
- Advanced modelling skills and experience using large data sets and analysis to model complex pricing scenarios and deliver fit for purpose outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience using Excel and other tools, to deliver insights with a methodical, risk‑aware approach to pricing, portfolio and analysis
- Ability to translate complex data into meaningful stories, particularly for non-technical stakeholders, including visualisations, options analysis and recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to tactfully challenge assumptions and influence outcomes constructively.
