Role Description:

 

The Risk Business Partner is a newly created opportunity in our Risk team based at our Perth Central Park office. This role is instrumental in enhancing Synergy’s enterprise-wide risk management capability, with a particular focus on our Customer and Wholesale business units, and business resilience. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of control validation programs, risk assessments, and integrated assurance activities that support informed decision-making.

 

Reporting to the Head of Risk, the Risk Business Partner provides second line oversight and assurance, while partnering closely with business units to embed risk management practices and build first line capability. The role also supports the implementation of key frameworks, including the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and the Security Management Framework, and plays a lead role in crisis management training and business continuity planning.

 

This is a dynamic and collaborative role that contributes to the continuous improvement of Synergy’s risk culture and governance maturity. It offers the opportunity to work across diverse business areas and support the organisation in navigating an evolving risk landscape with confidence and clarity.

Job responsibilities:

 

  • Partner with business units to embed enterprise risk management practices, ensuring consistent application of the ERM standard and supporting the implementation of the risk appetite statement.
  • Provide second line oversight and assurance by independently monitoring and validating material risks and controls and contributing to integrated assurance activities.
  • Support crisis management and business continuity planning through the delivery of crisis management training and the development and monitoring of continuity plans for critical infrastructure and support functions.
  • Contribute to risk reporting and governance by providing input into regular reporting and assisting with submissions for Executive and Board-level committees, including the Audit and Risk Committee.
  • Drive continuous improvement in risk frameworks and practices by reviewing strategic risk management documents and extracting actionable insights to enhance risk maturity and organisational resilience.

What you will bring:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Enterprise Risk Management, Business, Engineering or a related technical field, with post-graduate qualifications viewed favourably.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in an enterprise-wide risk management role, with exposure to both operational and corporate risk environments.
  • Strong understanding of risk management practices, particularly within the Australian regulatory context.
  • Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience advising senior and executive leadership.
  • Proven ability to apply structured problem-solving techniques, manage competing priorities, and navigate complex and evolving business environments with resilience and commercial acumen.
