Role Description:
The Risk Business Partner is an exciting opportunity within Synergy’s Risk team, based at our Perth Central Park office. This role provides enterprise-wide second line risk management support and assurance, with a strong focus on customer and wholesale business units and business resilience.
As a trusted advisor, the Risk Business Partner works closely with stakeholders to embed risk management practices, strengthen first line capability, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. They design and deliver control validation programs, risk assessments, and integrated assurance initiatives that enable informed, risk-based decision-making. The role also supports security and critical infrastructure risk management (SOCI), including Countering Foreign Interference (CFI) requirements, ensuring compliance and resilience across the organisation.
Combining strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, the Risk Business Partner contributes to risk frameworks, leads crisis management training, and provides actionable insights to senior leaders and the Audit and Risk Committee. Job responsibilities:
- Partner with business units to embed the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) standard and support governance of the risk appetite statement.
- Design and deliver second line control validation programs for material risks and provide input into regular risk reporting to enable informed decision-making.
- Lead crisis management implementation, including training and support for the Crisis Management Team (CMT).
- Support security and critical infrastructure risk management (SOCI), including contributing to annual SOCI reporting and attestation processes.
- Provide education and build capability across the organisation on risk management practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
What you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Enterprise Risk Management, Business, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in enterprise-wide risk management within a complex organisation or similar industry.
- Strong understanding of risk management practices and regulatory requirements within the Australian context, including security and critical infrastructure risk.
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders.
- Proven ability to apply structured problem-solving techniques, demonstrate resilience, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
