Role Description:
The Risk Manager is an exciting opportunity in our Risk team based at our Perth Central Park office. This pivotal role is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving Synergy’s Enterprise risk management framework (ERM), including the Security Management Framework and Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Governance Standards. The Risk Manager will lead the development of critical controls and enterprise risk management programs, ensuring compliance with the SoCI Act and delivering independent second-line assurance to the Executive and Board.
You will maintain a complete and accurate material risk profile, oversee governance requirements, and provide strategic insights to strengthen Synergy’s risk management posture. This role requires strong collaboration across business units, engagement with external stakeholders such as the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre, and participation in national forums to stay ahead of emerging security threats.

Job responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and continuously improve Synergy’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) risk management processes, ensuring alignment with the ERM framework.
- Maintain and verify a complete and accurate SoCI material risk profile, providing independent second-line assurance and regular reporting to the Executive, Audit and Risk Committee (ARC), and Board.
- Lead governance requirements for SoCI risk management, including board attestation letters, ARC updates, and compliance with the SoCI Act.
- Develop and monitor the SoCI business continuity framework and plans to restore organisational activities safely and efficiently.
- Stay at the forefront of security threat intelligence, educating the business on emerging risks, methodologies, and control mechanisms, while fostering collaboration with WA and national security forums.
What you will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 7-10 years’ experience in a senior enterprise risk role, with exposure to both operational and corporate risk management.
- Knowledge of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 and its application in a complex organisational environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence at all levels.
