Role Description:
The Senior Financial Modelling Analyst is a newly created opportunity in our Strategic Analysis and Financial Planning team based at our Perth Central Park office. The role strengthens Synergy’s long‑term financial planning capability by delivering high‑quality analysis and modelling that supports the organisation’s strategic direction. Operating in a collaborative environment, the position helps shape Synergy’s view of future market trends and financial outcomes.
A core focus of the role is enhancing Synergy’s long‑term forecasting through the effective management and continual improvement of the Anaplan Long‑Term Model. By integrating changing market rules, regulatory requirements, and operational assumptions, the Senior Financial Modelling Analyst ensures financial forecasts remain accurate, relevant, and aligned with broader strategic objectives. These insights directly inform investment considerations, financial planning, and long‑term scenario analysis.
With an emphasis on analytical rigour and partnership across the business, the role contributes to a forward‑looking, data‑driven approach to financial decision‑making. Working with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and external stakeholders, the Senior Financial Modelling Analyst helps deliver clear, credible insights that support Synergy’s long‑term goals and reinforce a culture of disciplined financial management.
Job responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain, and continually improve the Anaplan Long-Term Model (LTM) to ensure accuracy, robustness, and alignment with evolving market and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the development of Synergy’s long‑term financial outlook, delivering insights that inform strategic decisions over a 20‑year horizon.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across the business to incorporate updated assumptions and market dynamics into long‑term financial modelling.
- Lead financial evaluations for major business cases, investments, commercial agreements, and annual impairment and onerous contract assessments.
- Act as the key contact for auditors on year‑end impairment and onerous contract matters, providing timely and accurate responses supported by high‑quality analysis.
What you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Finance or Commerce, supported by a recognised professional designation such as CA or CPA, and 4-6 years’ experience in financial modelling and reporting roles.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capability, with excellent attention to detail, a clear understanding of the underlying value drivers, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- The ability to interpret complex financial outcomes and communicate insights clearly and confidently to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven experience working independently and proactively, taking full ownership of end‑to‑end analysis and high‑quality deliverables.
- Industry experience in energy, utilities, or other regulated sectors (preferred), along with knowledge of financial investment analysis, regulatory frameworks, and where possible, energy market modelling (WEM desirable).
