Role Description:

 

The Senior Financial Planning Analyst is a newly created opportunity in our Strategic Analysis and Financial Planning team based at our Perth Central Park office. This role plays a central part in Synergy’s short to medium‑term financial planning framework, contributing to the organisation’s ability to meet internal and government planning requirements and support future strategic direction.

 

Working closely with senior leaders, government stakeholders and key business units, the position helps shape the financial insights and planning outputs that inform critical decision‑making across the organisation. The role operates at the intersection of corporate finance, regulatory context and strategic planning, supporting Synergy’s engagement with Treasury, EPWA and other relevant agencies.

 

This is a high‑impact position within a collaborative and fast‑paced finance environment, offering the opportunity to influence funding outcomes, contribute to strategic initiatives, and support continuous improvement across Synergy’s planning processes and systems.

Job responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the delivery of Synergy’s financial planning activities, including major planning cycles and forecasting processes.
  • Analyse market, regulatory and legislative changes to assess and communicate their financial impacts.
  • Prepare high‑quality financial reports, submissions and papers that support executive and government decision‑making.
  • Drive continuous improvement across planning processes, tools and methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

What you will bring:

 

  • A tertiary qualification in Finance or Commerce, supported by a professional CA or CPA accreditation.
  • At least 6 years’ experience in corporate‑level financial planning and analysis within a large organisation.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capability, with experience preparing high‑quality analysis and reporting.
  • Sound knowledge of business and financial analysis processes, ideally gained in industries such as electricity, utilities, energy or banking.
  • Experience using financial planning systems such as Anaplan or TM1, with excellent attention to detail, the ability to interpret financial outcomes, and confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
