Role Description:

The Senior Renewables Asset Engineer role is a newly created opportunity in our Future Energy Team based at our Central Park, Perth offices.

 

You will work collaboratively with the Future Energy team, SynergyRED, business stakeholders, and external consultants to manage Synergy’s operational wind and solar assets, supporting the successful delivery of the organisation’s renewables strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient and cost‑effective operational strategies are implemented across the asset portfolio, maximising performance, reliability, and lifecycle value.

 

You will provide asset and vehicle management services for a portfolio of operating wind and solar assets, while also supporting the seamless transition of new projects from construction into operations. Responsibilities span the full asset lifecycle—construction, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning—ensuring all contractual obligations, technical requirements, and performance standards are consistently achieved.

Job responsibilities:

  • Engage with asset owners, grid operators, landholders, contractors, and regulators to define operational requirements, resolve technical issues, and support commercial and compliance needs across wind and solar farms.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures, maintenance strategies, and performance monitoring frameworks specific to wind turbines and solar PV systems, ensuring compliance with generator performance standards and ISO55001.
  • Oversee O&M service providers for wind and solar assets by monitoring availability, performance, maintenance execution, and HSSE compliance, while leading procurement and contract negotiations where required.
  • Support handover from construction to operations, conduct engineering reviews of designs and plant modifications, manage grid and connection processes, and analyse asset performance to identify generation and reliability improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers, collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to organisational capability by documenting and 

What you will bring:

  • Degree in Electrical, C&I, or Mechanical Engineering
  • WA Class “C” or “C-A” Driver’s Licence
  • 5–8 years’ experience in Power station or renewables operation, mechanical, electrical, and C&I engineering maintenance models, policies, and procedures
