Role Description:
The Mechanical Engineer is a newly created opportunity based at our Pinjar Power Station site.
The role will undertake Engineering assignments encompassing subject matter expertise for projects, design reviews, conceptual technical proposals, and cost estimates.
This role will enable you to take the lead role in the investigation of technical problems and recommend safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective solutions.
You will provide timely technical support to Gas Generation operations and maintenance teams across KWGT, Cockburn, Pinjar, Regional and sustainable sites.
Job responsibilities:
- Maintain records of Gas Turbine hot gas parts and determine replacement strategies
- Lead investigations into plant operating/performance problems, as reported by others or observed through frequent contact with the plant, devise and recommend or initiate solutions
- Plan, supervise/coordinate or carry out activities, associated with manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance/repair of equipment and systems as required
- Carry out technical inspection, prepare reports with recommendations and/or arrange necessary action and manage outage projects in accordance with budget, to time targets whilst maintaining quality standards
- Carry out specialist technical tasks and supervise, monitor performance, coordinate and check works carried out by staff, contractors and consultants.
- Prepare/check/assess/coordinate designs, calculations, estimates, sketches, specifications/tenders, working drawings and schedules
What you will bring:
- Relevant Mechanical Engineering degree essential
- Power station mechanical operation and maintenance practices, preferably with previous exposure to open or combined cycle gas turbine plant and/or wind turbine and diesel generating plant
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in an Engineering role
- Preferred minimum of 4 years’ experience in the electricity industry and/or power generating equipment
- Preferred Existing knowledge of heavy industrial Gas Turbines in open or combined cycle operation
